Expanding food access

We work with partners to make food more available.

General Mills supports a multi-year expansion of the No Kid Hungry campaign led by the nonprofit, Share Our Strength.

One of the ways we fight hunger is through Partners in Food Solutions

More than 300 General Mills employees volunteered to build the program.

It's a non-profit organization that brings together the business and technical expertise of global food companies to help local food processors in Africa. 

Here's an update on more than a decade of their work.

Millions in support

In 2020, General Mills invested $9 million in innovative food access programs to ensure children from lower-income households had meals during school closures around the world. In 2020 7 billion meals worldwide were enabled by our food donations and philanthropic partners, including the Global FoodBanking Network and Feeding America.

Our partnership with Feeding America began in 1977. It features:

  • Food donations.
  • Cause marketing programs.
  • Service to local volunteerism.
  • Foundation grants.

In fiscal 2020, General Mills produced $5 million worth of food for donation to the Feeding America network in response to COVID-19 pandemic and support for emergency food assistance, resulting in 4.2 million meals.
